Where does a bullet fall if someone shoots it straight up?

rifleAt the North or South pole a bullet will land at the same spot, but at the equator …

Due to Earth’s rotation, the bullet will experience Coriolis Force. When the bullet goes up, the Coriolis Force pulls it to the West and when the bullet comes down, the Coriolis Force pulls it to the East. Due to air resistance, the average ascending velocity of the bullet is higher than the average descending velocity of the bullet. According to the fact that the Coriolis Force is proportional to the velocity, the bullet will land to the West.
